Steffi Graf also won a gold medal at the 1988 Olympics and a silver medal at the 1992 games. She had also won at the 1984 Olympics when tennis was just a demonstration sport. Steffi Graf was ranked number one in the world for a record 377 weeks. The longest consecutive spell was 186 weeks between 17 August 1987 and 10 March 1991. Steffi Graf won 'The Grand Slam' in 1988 winning all four majors, the Australian Open, the French Open, Wimbledon and the US Open. She became only the third woman to achieve this and the only one to have done it on 4 different court surfaces.
